Whilst it is clear that as a guitarist Hank Snow was not in the same league as, say, Chet Atkins, Grady Martin, Hank Garland, Joe Maphis or Jimmy Bryant, he was well-respected for his art. Certainly his record label, RCA, would never have allowed him to play on all his sessions had he been less than thoroughly competent, studio time was money and woe betide record producers if they allowed their artistes to waste it. Even more proof-positive of his skills is the fact that over the years RCA issued a number of guitar instrumental albums by Hank Snow, starting in 1957 with 'Country Guitar' and that master musician Chet Atkins bestowed the honour of recording a guitar album with him in 1964, 'Reminiscing' and again in 1969 'By Special Request'.
