Number of Items:1 Product Description The Pitsco Wind Gen Kit provides students in grades 6-12 a hands-on activity to build a model windmill that demonstrates the scientific concepts of alternative energy, energy transformation, and electricity production, and includes laser-cut basswood parts to build a model windmill. The kit includes basswood windmill parts, cardstock blade parts, a motor with a pre-soldered light bulb, and instructions. Students in a variety of classroom settings can build the windmill using scissors and glue (sold separately) and study practical applications for wind energy. The windmill design can be modified to add blades for a variety of experiments, and multiple windmills can be wired together to power larger devices. The windmill's finished measurements are 9-3/8 x 6-5/8 x 6 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) A wind-powered model generator kit is typically used in an educational setting to demonstrate alternative energy, energy transfer, and electricity production. Construction requires white glue, a glue stick, waxed paper, masking tape, a hobby knife, and scissors (all sold separately). Generating electricity with the Wind Gen Kit requires a high-velocity fan (sold separately) or wind. Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects. Teachers in pre-K, elementary, and secondary classrooms use science education kits and products alongside science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum to demonstrate STEM concepts and real-world applications through hands-on activities. Science education projects include a broad range of activities, such as practical experiments in engineering, aeronautics, robotics, energy, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology. Pitsco Education develops K-12 science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum, educational kits, and classroom tools. The company, founded in 1971, is headquartered in Pittsburg, KS.
