Pick-a-Bushel works because it's not only easy to grow in any sunny spot, it's also versatile. You can pick these white-spined fruits at just 3 inches for the most delectable gherkins you will ever eat, or let them mature to about 6 inches for fresh slicers. They are sweet and crisp, completely bitter-free. Yum! This is a semi-bush plant, bearing up to 20 fruit on average. Give it a bit of support from stakes or a small trellis, or let the fruit dangle. You will quickly see what works for you. And of course it's great in the garden as well. Expect it to reach just 10 to 12 inches high but to spread (or be trained on a support) 24 to 32 inches long.
