Our Lady of the Lilies 5x7 _ Catholic Art

SIGNED ART PRINTS! These professionally run prints are signed by the artist(me), along with the name of the piece and date on the back in pencil. My original watercolor was based on the lovely painting 'Our Lady of the Lilies' by Bouguereau. His painting is a favorite of Martina Kreitzer, foundress of the blog Catholic Sistas (www.catholicsistas.com). Martina has a special affinity for the Miraculous Medal and St Catherine Laboure (the Sister who received the visions from which the medals were designed). As my drawings always include text, I incorporated both a quote by St Catherine and the text of the Miraculous Medal prayer ("O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee") into my rendition - along with contemporary style elements. St. Catherine Laboure was a simple woman who remained anonymous throughout her life, despite the growing renown of the Medals. Simple prayers are what we moms often turn to out of necessity, and this quote by St Catherine seemed perfect: "God always speaks to you when you approach Him plainly and simply."
