The Other Side showcases Holder?s explorations into deep house, hip-hop, r&b and reggae, along with various collaborators from the Toronto scene (rapper Reign, vocalists Jemeni, Sacha & JME and Master of Ceremonies Sankofa). The man who brought us the Pat Metheny sampled "Summer Daze" and "Da Sambafrique" is back to what he does best. The album features 10 new tracks of all musical persuasions, from the lyrically challenging hip-hop of "No More Dating DJ?s" (an advance favorite on Giles Peterson?s Worldwide show on BBC Radio 1) to the slow swing and of the Zero 7-like "Back Again" to the Balearic house of "Magic Carpet Ride."
