Whistle Stop Café Fried Green Tomato Batter Mix has soared in popularity due to its great taste, ease of use, and its versatility. It has a delicate blend that coats well, enhances, yet allows the flavor of the ­vegetables being cooked to come through. Bill and Mary Jo McMichael bought the Irondale Cafe in 1972 from Miss Bess Fortenberry, Fannie Flagg's Great Aunt. It seated up to 36 people. Over the years word spread of the delicious home cooking at the little cafe next to the tracks in old Irondale, Alabama. They expanded to a capacity of over 220 with lines out the door. In 1986 Fannie's novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe came out, the cafe became know as the Original WhistleStop Cafe. The McMichael Family developed the now famous line of delicious mixes and seasoning in 1993 that are now sold nationwide. We get compliments from satisfied customers from all over the country.
