Old Grist Mill - NEW Form of Foundation Paper Piecing Pattern - 17" x 19" Quilt Block - The Old Grist Mill pattern was designed by Cynthia England. Her new Paper Piecing technique is called ‘Picture Piecing’. It is a slightly different approach to foundation paper piecing and the pattern packet contains detailed instructions on this new technique. However, the pattern can be used as is with the traditional sew & flip method of paper piecing. The pattern packet contains a master pattern, a freezer paper pattern for cutting up and sewing on, a detailed fabric listing with measurements and all instructions necessary to construct this wonderful quilt block. The finished size of the quilt is 17” x 19” and is for an intermediate level piecer. This charming Grist Mill was inspired by the Glade Creek Grist Mill in Babcock State Park in West Virginia. It seems only fitting that the mill be created in cloth since it was used in the 1800s for fulling wool cloth, dyeing, spinning, weaving and milling grain. Special Feature of the Grist Mill pattern!! - The windows, door, railing, bridge and mill wheel images are included in the pattern and can be photocopied to photo transfer paper and transferred to your fabric. Or, if you prefer, you can download the Adobe Acrobat PDF files for these images and print your images directly to treated fabric or an iron-on transfer sheet. Download the PDF files using the Bonus Files links at the bottom of this page. Each file is set up as an 8 1/2 x 11 page. Pattern Includes: A full-size master pattern, full-size iron-on templates and 4 pages of illustrated instructions. Download the printable Grist Mill wheels file
