Raised in California, we always had a big vegetable garden & great fruit trees, so there was always something to experiment with! Road trips were a family favorite, and we’d often head south of the border into Mexico for our adventures. We’d spend time with Mexican families that taught Mom & I to crochet & cook traditional recipes. My Dad & brother would often fish & hunt. I was fascinated with the assorted colorful, hot peppers of Mexico. I wanted to find a way to enjoy peppers & not burn up in the process, so I started experimenting with peppers in breads, sauces, Jellies & jams. In the eighties my Jalapeño Jelly won a blue ribbon at the State Fair. A few decades later, ABC featured my recipe for a Turkey Sandwich with Jalapeño Jelly as the THE BEST SANDWICH IN THE NATION! Now a self proclaimed Jelly Slinger, I love concocting flavorful cocktails with Ojai Jelly & Jam.
