North Carolina Snowflake Ornament

My daughter is married to a Marine, and now she is moving with him all over. I decided to make ornaments for their travels together, and this is the first design and destination, North Carolina! Please note: Made-to-order items will be available to purchase for shipping in the domestic US until December 4 to be guaranteed delivery by December 25. Made to order, this little beauty measures about 5 inches east to west and 2 inches north to south. The ornament width is about 1/8 to 1/4 inch. I start with a blob of white clay, roll a slab, cut out this shapely North Carolina, then add texture. I fire twice with a top coat of a red and a textured ice blue colored glass glaze. The tie at the top is jute or hemp twine. Made to order items can have color, shape and texture variations that I will do my best to keep at a minimum. Please convo me with any questions. I started making state shape ornaments with a Texas cookie cutter my mom made Texas shaped cookies from when I was a kid. I love traveling! One of my favorite activities was looking up different states in the encyclopedias and learning as much as I could about them. I loved contacting their tourist offices and getting sent big envelopes of info! Now I am taking my love of travel and family to a level where I can share with others. It warms my heart to make something special for loved ones that may be around for generations to come. Ceramic items are delicate. I prefer to use mostly recycled packing items, but with the delicacy of ceramics, I will be using some new materials to ensure it gets to you in the same condition it left here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please remember that the items I am selling contain vintage and/or recycled materials.
