Mullein - Verbascum phlomoides L. - Family: Scrophulariaceae. - Other Names: Orange mullein; molèus faux-phlomis (French); Filz-Königskerze (German); barbarasco (Italian). - Description: Mullein is a leafy biennial herb with a robust rosette of woolly leaves. A branched panicle with erect spikes (up to 2 m), densely packed with yellow flowers, develops in the second year of growth. Mostly used are orange mullein, V. phlomoides and large-flowered mullein, V. densiflorum (= V. thapsiforme ). They are distinguished mainly by the size of the flowers and the hairiness of the stamens.
