In 1935, author Hugh Wiley created a distinguished, gentlemanly Oriental detective named James Lee Wong. Three years later, inspired by the success of the Charlie Chan and Mr. Motto films, struggling studio Monogram Pictures brought Mr. Wong to life on the silver screen, attracting Boris Karloff to the role. An instant success for Monogram, a total of six films were produced. This DVD features the first two in the series. "Mr. Wong, Detective": Mr. Wong must solve the murder of a chemical manufacturer who bought the rights to an odorless and invisible poisonous gas, which was used as a murder weapon. "The Mystery Of Mr. Wong": Death follows a mysterious and beautiful sapphire after it is stolen from China and winds up in the hands of a gem collector.
