Though all of Mozart's violin concerti were relatively youthful works, it is believed that the Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Major, K. 207, was actually composed two years prior to the others, when the composer was just seventeen - of course, with a body of work into the hundreds by that point in his life, perhaps this is not surprising! Despite his youth, it is not a puerile work: it is a beautiful and lively piece, full of vigor and Mozartean spirit. In fact, the maturity of the lovely Adagio (the second movement) is remarkable. Somehow, this work has not received the same kind of attention as the later concerti, but it is certainly worth knowing better. This Urtext edition for violin with piano reduction is edited by Christoph-Hellmut Mahling, with cadenzas by Jean-Delphin Alard and Martin Wulfhorst. Piano reduction by Martin Schelhaas.
