-A Moka Pot is a brewing device that uses steam pressure and an external heat source to create a strong coffee concentrate (usually about a 1:7 coffee to water ratio). -Unit makes six espresso cups of coffee in just minutes. -Durable cast aluminum body with pressure valve safety valve. -Perfect to make Italian Espresso and Cuban Coffee. -Extremely simple to use: 1-Fill with water to right below steam-valve on the base (preferable hot water to reduce the amount of time the moka pot has to sit on the stove and prevent your coffee from scorching) 2-Fill funnel with ground Italian or Cuban coffee (not too tight, don't overfill nor tamp so it won't clog) 3-Place Moka Pot on burner (low to medium heat on the edge of the burner instead of directly in the middle to help prevent your coffee from scorching and the handle from getting too hot). 4-Remove when you hear it starts to gurgle. -Easy assembly and disassembly for quick cleanup: Let the Moka Pot cool before cleaning (it will stay hot for awhile). Unscrew the boiler, remove the filter basket and discard the grounds. As tempting as it may be, don’t bang the filter basket on the side of the garbage. If you do this, it will eventually dent and need to be replaced. Rinse all parts with cold water and hand dry. -Needs to be well seasoned to prevent high heat aluminum taste. No soap or abrasive surfaces (rinse only with hot water, leave the coffee oils on the metal surface to seal the pot) wipe with a rag. -If steam leaks from the release valve, you’ve got a little too much pressure and need to remove the pot from heat. Try one of these:Make sure you didn’t overfill with grounds Make sure you didn’t tamp the grounds If you can check off the two above, use a lower heat. Your grounds could also be too fine, creating a clog. Try a slightly coarser grind next time if the pot checks out. Use your finger to dislodge and grounds that may be stuck. Then, hand dry everything and set aside to further air dry.
