Mini LP sleeve with OBI. EU-only two-fer containing a pair of albums from the jazz great. Best known for his soulful, bluesy approach to playing the alto saxophone, in his formative years Lou Donaldson was, as many were of the bebop era, heavily influenced by Charlie Parker. This release presents Lou Donaldson's complete original LP MIDNIGHT SUN, which was recorded in a quintet format and presents Donaldson as the only horn in the company of pianist Horace Parlan, bassist Ben Tucker, drummer Al Harewood, and star conga player Ray Barretto. As a bonus, we have added the complete original album BLUES WALK, presenting Donaldson in the same format, and again with Barretto on congas, as well as an alternative version of 'Candy' recorded the following year.
