Tagetes lucida is a half-hardy sub-shrub native to Mexico and Central America. The leaves have a tarragon-like flavor, with hints of anise. Common names include Mexican marigold, Mexican mint marigold, Mexican tarragon, Spanish tarragon, and Texas tarragon. Mexican Tarragon is a perennial growing to 0.8 m (2ft 7in) by 0.4 m (1ft 4in). It is in flower from August to September. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by insects.
