Maitake (Grifola Frondosa) is an edible mushroom that grows from late June to late September in broad-leaved forests at the base of old oaks, less often maples (in the south among beech and chestnut trees). Fruit bodies of mushrooms are up to 80 cm in diameter and up to 10 kg in weight. They consist of numerous flat, thin, semicircular or shovel-shaped caps with a diameter of 0.5-10 cm. Caps are fleshy-skinned, wedge-shaped narrowed into a stipe, grayish-brown or yellowish-gray in color. Spore powder is white.
