We designed, hammered and twisted 16 gauge sterling silver wire to handmake this special little Celtic knot inspired shawl pin. We smoothed all the edges so that it will not catch on your shawl. We call this one "little" because it is significantly smaller and lighter than the 12 gauge version. It would work well on light, lacy fingering weight knitting. It is part of our "Little" series of pins made especially with lace shawls in mind. It can be worn as a sweater brooch too! This pin would work best on a knit or crocheted open weave type garment and is not intended for tightly woven cloth fabric. The pin measures about 1 3/4 - 2 1/8" long and about 5/8 -3/4" across the widest part. The stick pin part with the spiral on top that slips through the main design to secure the pin is about 2 1/2- 2 3/4" long. Every item is handmade by us so there are some slight variations in size which is why we give the range of sizes the item will be. If you need it to be an exact size please contact us and we can make sure it is the size you need. It is helpful to pull out a ruler when you read the measurements so that you can get a true sense of size since it's often hard to tell just from photos. It can also be used as hair pin to hold a small amount of hair. All our jewelry comes wrapped in colorful tissue paper, in a nice gift box and tied with a bow ready for gift giving. This pin is also available in light weight and less expensive aluminum, brass and copper and heavier gauge sterling silver. The pin in the pictures is a representative pin and not the exact same one that you will receive. We hand make each pin and try hard to make them look the same. There may be some minor differences but the one you will receive will look very similar to the one you see in the pictures.
