Product Description
Do you love a good prank? Does your sense of humor border on sadistic? Then you'll love Level E, a hilariously twisted new series from the creator of Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter X Hunter that's unlike anything you ve ever seen!
This extraterrestrial adventure follows the alien genius, Prince Baka (masterfully portrayed by anime legend Vic Mignogna) as he turns life on Earth into his own personal laugh track. The Prince has the biggest brain in the galaxy, and he's also a sadistic prankster who loves to make humans squirm. Anime fans will fall hard for this nostalgic, ''undeniably clever'' series that spoofs the television shows, video games, and superheroes they loved as kids. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll remember that thing you did that was super mean - but also super hilarious. (Don't worry, you won't get grounded.) So yeah, Level E. The alien invasion has begun. Prepare to die - laughing.

Based on a manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, the creator of the popular
Hunter X Hunter and
Yu Yu Hakusho,
Level E (2011) offers a twist on the alien refugee genre. Things are looking up for Yukitaka Tsutsui: he's left Tokyo to star on Kisaragi High's baseball team (which has a good shot at the Koshien Tournament), and pretty Miho lives next door to his apartment. When a spaceship crashes nearby, Yukitaka discovers not a subservient
kawaii (ultra-cute) girl in his apartment, but a nutty man with long blond hair. Prince Baka of the planet Dogra delights in tormenting other people, including Yukitaka, his long-suffering bodyguards, and a group of schoolchildren he kidnaps to enact an inane spoof of
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Level E misfires in several ways: stories start and stop arbitrarily; characters disappear for several episodes, only to reappear inexplicably. The tone shifts erratically, not only between stories, but within them. However, the biggest problem is Baka himself: his name means "fool" in Japanese, and it's an apt one. He's a singularly unlikable character who abuses and taunts everyone around him. At the beginning of each episode, the narrator portentously announces that countless aliens live in disguise on Earth. If that's true, all of them are probably more appealing than Prince Baka. (Rated TV 14: violence, violence against women, grotesque imagery, brief nudity, risqué humor, tobacco use)
