This ceramic ashtray features the Picasso Toros y Toreros illustrations made for the bullfighting book written by Luis Miguel Dominguin which includes and an essay by Georges Boudaille. The book Toros y Toreros was translated by Georges Frank and it was published by The Circle of Art, Thames, and Hudson. Picasso created the cover and illustrations of the book through the use of three sketchbooks and ink wash.
