Each container of Black Soldier Fly Larvae (250 count - Small) will contain at least 250 Soldier Fly Larvae ready to feed out as soon as they arrive. Small Black Soldier Fly Larvae measure approximately 1/4", and make perfect feeders for Bearded Dragons, Chameleons, Leopard Geckos, Fat Tail Geckos, and many insectivorous invertebrates. Black Soldier Fly ( Hermetia illucens) Larvae are a great feeder for a wide variety of reptiles, amphibians, birds, and invertebrates. High in calcium, Black Soldier Fly Larvae are also known in the trade as Phoenix Worms, ReptiWorms, and CalciWorms. How to Feed: You may rinse them before feeding to remove excess coco fiber. Feed Soldier Fly Larvae with tongs, or in a dish. Be careful not to allow Soldier Fly Larvae to escape the dish - the larvae will burrow and pupate into adult flies. Once the worms begin to pupate (if they're not eaten by then), they'll turn black. At this stage, the larvae contain a LOT of calcium, and should be quickly fed to your pets. After they pupate, the larvae emerge as adult Black Soldier Flies, which resemble small wasps. Even though they look intimidating, Black Soldier Flies are harmless. How to Store: Soldier Fly Larvae can be kept at room temperature, but keeping them at 55-65F will keep them in the larval stage much longer. Remember, Black Soldier Fly Larvae can still be fed out after they pupate. Adult flies can also be fed out - Chameleons in particular seem to love these!
