The 279973 Dryer Thermal Cut-Off Fuse Kit Replacement part is also known as Thermal Cut-Off kit. The thermostat acts as a safety mechanism that keeps the dryer from overheating and the thermal fuse is 352*F, it is a one time fuse, if it blows, it will not allow the heat to come back on.Replaces part numbers: 279973VP, 3391913, 3404151, 3404152, 3977395, 8318314, 897710, AP3094323
Works with most top name brands: Whirlpool, Kenmore, Maytag, KitchenAid, Inglis.
Fixes the following symptoms:
No heat or not enough heat.
Will Not Start.
Too hot.
Shuts off too soon.
Takes too long to dry.
In addition to replacing the thermal cut off and the hi-limit thermostat, make the following checks.
1.Disconnect power or unplug dryer.
2.Check for a failed or damaged heat element.
3.Check for electrical continuity across both terminals of the heat element.
4.Check for any/all causes for heat element on with no/low air flow.
A. Plugged lint screen.
B. Blocked, clogged, or kinked exhaust vent.
C. Too long exhaust, too many elbow, less than 4" diameter.
D. Inoperative flapper on exhaust hood,
E. Blower wheel not in place or not turning with motor.
F. Check 1m-2m motor switch contacts-should open when dryer is off.
G. Heat circuit timer contacts must be open when the timer is in the OFF position.
Note: (This kit can only be installed on 29" and 27" electric dryers. DO NOT install this kit on compact dryers or 24" over/under laundry products or gas dryers)
