Hops (Humulus Lupulus) is a perennial dioecious herbaceous climbing vine. The rhizome is fleshy, creeping; strongly branched thick roots grow from it, which grow into a developed root system. The underground part of the plant hibernates and lives up to 20 years. Hop stalks grow rapidly up to 20 cm per day. The leaves are long-leaved, opposite, very rough, with glands, coarsely serrated on the edge. The flowers are small, same-sex. Capitate spike-shaped inflorescences are formed in the form of dense cones on female plants, consisting of 20-60 flowers. Male inflorescences are leafless panicles. The fruit is a single-seeded keeled flattened nut. The plant blooms in July-August, the fruits ripen in August-September.
