These trivets are handmade in Rwanda by our artisans team specialized in sisal and banana fiber baskets and trivets. For this pure handmade we use locally grown, renewable resources such as banana stalks (use to weave the external part of trivet) and banana leaves fibers (inside part of trivet). When start to get dry and turns golden, brown, banana stalks and leafs are selected by the artisan from local villages where naturally grows and transformed into this beautiful work of art. After the trivets are woven they are smoked over a coconut husk to obtain their golden brown color. This process leaves behind a smoky scent which will dissipate with time. It can be used as a table or furniture display, for dining table to protect from heat damage or as a original gift (definitely a hit of a gift). Approximately 12''x9.5'' Diameter.
