Title: Cerridwen and Luag
Year: 2018
Medium: Watercolor and Acrylic
This piece features a priestess with her wolf companion. In Celtic mythology the goddess Cerridwen is often associated with the moon (as well as being a popular patron goddess for witches and wizards). Luag is an Irish Wolfhound name and a variation of Lugh, a Celtic sun god. So in this piece, she is the moon, and the wolf is the sun, and their bond is a yin/yang of balance and harmony. Cerridwen also holds a staff of a crescent moon with a sun cradled in it. In the moon shape there are 5 stones. that represent the 4 elements (Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water) while the center stone represents Spirit. She also wears a necklace with the triple spiral on it, a symbol often representative of the three aspects of the goddess (Maiden, Mother, and Crone).
This piece was printed with a 7-color printing process with archival ink on nice, archival luster paper. This comes as an 8"x10" print, where the printed area measures 8" x10" while the actual paper size is 8.5" x 11".
Print comes in re-sealable clear sleeve, and is mailed in a rigid paperboard mailer for protection.
Print includes title, year created, and artist name in the bottom white border.
