Lysimachos was a companion and bodyguard of Alexander. He struck this coin after the death of Alexander in 323 BC. He was the strongest of Alexander’s successors. In 281 BC, Lysimachos died in battle at the age of 89! (July 356-June 323 B.C.)Alexander was King of Macedonia and most of the known world from 336-323 B.C. A great accomplishment since he died at the age of 33. Alexander was also well educated, having Aristotle as one of his teachers.
