Globe Trekker - The Philippines

The 7,000 islands that comprise the Philippines are the forgotten islands of South East Asia. The country is a curious mix of Asian, Spanish and American cultural influences that range from Iberian colonial architecture to ancient tribal traditions and an obsession with American rock n' roll. Traveler Shilpa Mehta begins her Filipino adventure learning about the country's political history in Luzon. Traveling south through San Fernando she reaches the capital Manila. Leaving the nightlife of Manila behind Shilpa goes on to explore the islands of Boracay, Negros, Mindanao and Palawan.
