This is a Fujimi 1/700 scale assembly required plastic model kit of the IJN Shokaku, ("Soaring Crane"), the lead ship of the Shokaku-class aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. This is a waterline-hull version kit that features unpainted plastic parts mounted on sprues. Illustrated assembly guide and waterslide decals are included. Scale model building experience highly recommended. *ABOUT THE IJN SHOKAKU: The Shokaku was one of the six carriers that attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Accompanied by her sister ship the Zuikaku ("Auspicious Crane") of Carrier Division Five under the command of Rear Admiral Hara, the Shokaku launched air attacks against U.S. Naval installations and battleships in Pearl Harbor. The Shokaku was sunk during the "Battle of the Philippine Sea" on June 19, 1944 by torpedoes fired by U.S. submarine Cavalla under the command of Cmdr. Herman J. Kossler.
