His parents were Kamla and KC Khanna. His father was a businessman handling textiles. He had three sisters and one brother. Khanna studied at the Queen Mary s School and St Xavier s High School. He completed his graduation from Sydenham College. He was married to Geetanjali in 1971 and he has two sons with her, Rahul and Akshaye, both of whom are established actors.
