Important food source for birds. Golden Currant is relatively fast growing reaching up to 8 feet and is semi evergreen in winter. It is drought tolerant and adapts to most growing conditions well. The berries are uniformly round, firm, and deliciously sweet raw and can be used in pies and jams. Requires 60 days cold stratification. Scarify: Soak in water for 24 hours. Stratify: Cold stratify for 60 days. Germinate: Sow seed 1/4" deep, firm soil down, mulch the seed bed. Tip: Best sown in Fall in mulched beds.
