The Durable RMCU12/68-9 black molded wheel chock is made of a fiber-reinforced rubber compound, comes with a 12' proof coil chain and mounting clip, and can be placed against the wheel of a parked truck or trailer to help hold it steady. Rubber resists slipping, wear, and weather. The rubber is reinforced with fibers for strength. The chock is shaped so that either side can be positioned against the wheel and is ribbed for grip. The chain and clip can be used to secure the wheel chock to a wall. The chain is 3/16" thick and has a zinc finish for corrosion resistance. Proof coil chain, also known as Grade 30 chain, is made of carbon steel for strength. The grade is a measure of strength (the higher the number, the stronger the chain). The wheel chock weighs 9 lb. and measures 9 x 8 x 5.75 inches (L x W x H). (L is length, the horizontal distance from front to back; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point.) It meets Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard 1910.178 safety requirements for powered industrial trucks. Wheel chocks (also called wheel immobilizers or chock blocks) are designed to help prevent vehicles from accidentally rolling when parked, especially on a grade. Primarily for the safety of workers when a vehicle is undergoing maintenance, or being loaded or unloaded, use of wheel chocks can also reduce property damage from accidents and loss from spillage during loading operations. Wheel chocks are typically wedge shaped, and the size required depends on the weight of the vehicle, the size of the tires, the steepness of the grade, and the quality of the road surface. Large wheel chocks are usually made of a durable material with a high strength-to-weight ratio, and include handles or ropes to facilitate manual deployment. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), both agencies of the U.S. Department of Labor, require wheel chocks in several specific situations (including when parking on a grade and during loading operations). Durable Corporation manufactures loading dock bumpers, safety mats, anti-fatigue mats, and flooring. The company, founded in 1923, is headquartered in Norwalk, OH.
