Don Cherry's Hard Hitting Hockey
Outspoken, outrageous and at times outlandish, Don Cherry has been called many things during his nearly 30 years with CBCs Hockey Night in Canada. But, hes never been accused of being at a loss for words. A former player, Cherry retired in 1970 and soon created a career for himself in both minor and major league coaching. His greatest fame as a coach was achieved in fabled playoff battles with the Montreal Canadiens, against which Cherry coached in two consecutive Stanley Cup finals with the Boston Bruins along the way to winning the Jack Adams award for Coach of the Year. Cherry is known as a teacher and a mentor, yet his teams played with determination, skill and grit, filling arenas wherever they played.
