The Brugmansia called Dola is a stunningly beautiful large, tropical flowering shrub-like tree that bears unusual long trumpet shaped flowers that hang upside down. The powerfully fragrant, unique, romantic flowers along with its minimal need for care and attention are among the Brugmansias most attractive features. Dola matures at an average size range of between 8 to 12 feet. The flowers will range from pastel pink to a darker burgundy/coral shade of pink, depending on climate and light. They are large, heavily recurved with attractive, long whiskers that are typically highlighted by darker shades of the body color, and hang at a forward angle of about 10 to 15 degrees angle rather than hanging vertically. It has a crisp, clean fragrance.
Dola was developed by Paul Phillips and is cross between Butterfly and Ecuador Pink, registered in 2006. The plant grows lush and full with big veined leaves. The flowers are large and somewhat similar to Ecuador Pink in that they are large, have a white throat, are heavily recurved with attractive, long whiskers. However the flowers hang at about a 15 to 25 degree angle rather than hanging vertically, which gives a nice view of the contrasted throat color, and remain more pink toned than peach in most soils .
Plant is not subject to California Proposition 65 Warning Label Requirments.
