BENEFITS OF BROWN SUGAR - Demerara Sugar - As Demerara sugar naturally contains some molasses, which itself has some vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium and vitamins B3, B5 and B6 (4). In general, the darker the color of demerara sugar, the higher the amount of molasses and minerals. Demerara sugar is produced from sugarcane and consists of large grains which provide a nice, crunchy texture in baking.
