Product Description In 2040, the continuous pollution and the mysterious series of earthquakes left the city of Tokyo in ruins. A young man named Ken Ando is in training to become a member of DC, an army-like organization designed to investigate and protect the collapsing environment. Ken, with the support from his sick sister, Sayuri, gives his best to become a part of the elite group that the young longs for, but he receives the devastating news of being cut from the team because of his poor performances in the evaluation sessions. Then, an ominous monster suddenly appears from the sky with a blinding flash and starts mowing down DC's working robots with mysterious invisible forces. Ken, eager to show what he is truly made of, gets into one of the working robots and imprudently engages in a battle with the monster Amazon.com Quarreling classmates Ken and Mizuki train at D.C., the Global Environmental Research Institutive, to help clean up the polluted ruins of Tokyo in 2040. They've just finished basic training in service mecha when a gigantic robot appears. Mizuki suspects something's amiss because D.C. has begun arming their mecha and completed work on the gargantuan war robot Balcion. When she sees her commander with a mysterious case that's linked to a series of explosions, Mizuki grows more suspicious. The plot shifts when Mizuki and Cybuster, the monster robot, are transported to the planet of La Guias by a "micro black hole." Viewers familiar with other mecha shows will find Cybuster (2004) often feels like a rerun on its first viewing. The characters are standard anime types, the situation borrows from RahXephon and other series, and the mecha designs look recycled. (Rated 7 and older: violence, alcohol use) --Charles Solomon
