Beautiful blend of Japanese cabbage in colors white, cream, pink, purple-violet and green. The cabbage is edible, but it is usually bred as decoration.  Start seeds indoors between February-March or 6-10 weeks before the last frost is expected. Sow 1 seed in a pot with a mixture of peat, sand, and leaf land. You can start seeds in cell packs or flats but transplant them to larger pots as soon as the first true leaves appear. When the threat of frost has passed, transplant into a sunny spot with light sandy, or loamy, soil rich in nutrients with space at least 20 inches between the plants. Immediately after planting, fertilize the soil with nitrogen and organic top dressing. Do not use manure. Don't fertilize while growing or they can lose color and get leggy. Water every 2 days and in warm climates, every day.  You can also sow the seeds directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Spread the seeds above loamy rich soil, cover, and keep the soil moist until germination. When seedlings are 3-4 inches tall, thin them to about 18-24 inches apart.
