The P-39 was used by the Soviet air force, however there were other countries that used the fighter including the royal air force. Because the p-39's performance dropped off rapidly above its critical attitude, it was useless in missions in Europe and in the Pacific. However, it was used successfully on the Eastern front, which did not demand the high-attitude performance. The P-39 was an all-metal single-engine fighter.
