The Garden Salsa pepper plant was developed specifically to be used in salsas, picante sauces and Mexican sauces. Garden Salsa pepper is a mild to spicy heat pepper, rating from 1000(green) -5000(red) Scoville units. You can compare the green ones to a Jalapeno while the red ones are quite similar to a Habanero. The pepper starts out green and can be eaten then, but it is considered mature when it turns fiery red (and hotter tasting too). This is one of the best peppers to use when making zesty salsa blends, thus the name Garden Salsa. Add them to salsas, sauces and soups; pickle, stir-fry or roast them. This chili-style pepper offers full-bodied flavor without intense, overwhelming heat. Place plants 18-24 inches apart in a full sun garden location. These peppers can also be planted in large pots or containers also. Peppers in general require a moist well-draining soil with mulching around the plants. The mulching helps preserve the moisture in the soil and discourage weed growth. These disease resistant peppers can grow up to 24 inches tall and bear heavy yields of green fruits that will ripen to a bright red if left unpicked. The 7 inch long peppers will be ready for harvest in 70-75 days (from seeding)..
