Mountain Pride tomatoes are a bush variety plant that grow to 48 inches in height. They can be planted in the garden or in a large container. It produces a deep red roundish fruit of around 8-10 ounces. It is a juicy flavorful tomato suitable for cooking or serving fresh with meals. Mountain Pride is a determinate tomato plant which means they stop growing when fruit sets on the terminal or top bud, they ripen all their crop at or near the same time (usually over a 2 week period), and then die. Plant at least 24 inches apart to allow for plants bushy shape. These tomatoes require full sun and adequate watering for the season. They may require a limited amount of caging and/or staking for support, but do NOT be prune or as it severely reduces the crop. When planting these and all other tomatoes, plant to a soil depth just beneath the first set of leaves. That first set of leaves (called cotyledon-which means the embryonic first leaves) will eventually fall off. Roots will form along the buried stem, establishing a stronger root, thus a stronger plant. Will produce a large harvest at 70-80 days (from seeding)
