The "Lady Bell" Red pepper plant is a sweet pepper hybrid that produces beautiful deep red bell shaped fruits with thick meaty walls, a juicy sweet flavor and crisp crunchy texture. At full maturity, the pepper changes from green to red, and though it is edible and sweet in either stage, the longer the pepper ripens on the plant, the sweeter it is. Lady Bell is prolific, and is one of the most dependable producers of sweet peppers we know, even in cooler climates. It is even suitable for the Northeastern states with their cooler weather and shorter growing season. Lady Bell Red is excellent served fresh for salads or used in cooking stir-fries, soups, and stews, or roasted, grilled or stuffed. Bell peppers in general are being hailed as a SUPER FOOD as they are low in calories, high in flavor and contain vitamins A & C plus other nutrients. Place plants 18 inches apart in a full sun location. These peppers need a moist well-drained soil that is mulched to hold the moisture in and keep weeds out. This is especially important for the Lady Bell pepper as it has a shallow root base and vigorous weeding could damage the plant. This variety is able to handle cooler weather if needed. Plant produces good yields of sweet bell peppers in 75-80 days (from seeding). Remember, the longer the pepper stay on the plant, the sweeter it will be
