Answer: Wire is plastic coated, you don't have to worry about the wire rusting. Question: How does it withstand outside temps? Answer: I'm not sure how it would do over multiple years of extreme temperatures, Wire is coated and have not had any issues with it in the normal use of one or two growing seasons.
