Pinguiculas, commonly known as butterworts, catch prey using their wide and sticky leaves which act like flypaper. Small insects get stuck to the leaves and are slowly digested and their nutrients absorbed into the plant's leaf. The absorption process is done through pores in the leaf's surface. These pores can also dry out the plant which is why pinguicula usually live in humid environments. Pinguicula primuliflora is a fun plant to grow because they form small plants at the tips of their leaves. These plants can be rooted and grown into more adult plants. In nature they can be found in Florida and Louisiana. They are green and grow to about 3 inches across when mature. Like most pinguiculas, adult primuliflora throw up beautiful flowers. These flowers are usually violet and yellow. Your new plant will be approximately 1.5" across and has been carefully grown for the last year. They are now a good size for carnivorous plant enthusiasts. Growing instructions will be included. Shipping, Soil & Pots If you choose the bare root option, your plant will be shipped with its roots carefully wrapped in a damp paper towel. Otherwise, your plant will come potted in a 2.5" pot.
