Sedum confusum: Waxy, succulent yellow-green leaves, branched and bushy, with yellow flowers. Nice hanging basket plant. Semi-hardy. Habitat: Mexico. Sedum like well-drained, porous soil. Addition of grit or sharp sand will help porosity & drainage. Many varieties propagate by simply spreading leaves on the soil surface. To ensure division, remove top 2" of plant tips and strip lower leaves form bottom of stem. Plant in well-drained soil mix and water after 2-3 days. Do not over water! New plants should be well established after 5-6 weeks. Fertilize with a low-nitrogen fertilizer 1-2 times during growing season. Soft Sedum need bright sunlight to maintain their colors and full leaf coverage. This species will not survive long periods below 10F or repeated freeze thaw cycles, but it can overwinter indoors on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. Bring it back outdoors in the spring to ensure that it has enough sunlight during its growing season.
