This coffee is produced at an altitude of 5,250 feet in the town of Carrizal, In Poas of Alajuela Costa Rica. The air and altitude of this special area, along with the care that goes into its farming allows us to roast one of the best coffees in the world and this attain a unique beverage, with an aroma, acidity and body that only selected Arabicas from Costa Rica can achieve. Costa Rica is the only country in the world where it is actually illegal to produce any type of coffee other than 100% Arabica—the highest quality of coffee beans. A law was passed in 1989 prohibiting the planting of low-quality beans, encouraging Costa Rican farmers to pursue true excellence including hand picking all of our coffee beans. Arabica beans are a specific variety of beans that is more difficult to grow than other, hardier stocks.
