In 1917, the government, worried about wartime food shortages, passed the food and fuel control act, giving President Woodrow Wilson the power regulate the distribution, export, Import, purchase and storage of food. Wilson used his new mandate to create the U. S. Food Administration under the direction of Herbert Hoover. This food propaganda poster shows two Doughboys in the Attack with rifles and bayonets fixed as they go into no man's land under which it says that the soldiers need fuel - what, meat, fats and sugar. Created by Harvey T. Dunn U. S. A. (1884-1952)
