James Montgomery Flagg (1877 - 1960) was an American artist and illustrator. He is most famous for his war effort posters but he also work for magazines, did cartoons, and even paintings. This poster shows Uncle Sam arm-in-arm with Britannia, accompanied by a lion and an eagle. It is a dramatic reminder of the long and fruitful alliance between the United States and Great Britain. The poster is titled "Side by side - Britannia! Britain's Day Dec. 7th 1918". It was created in 1918 by the American Lithographic Co. N. Y.
