Butcher's Broom (Ruscus aculeatus) also known as Box Holly, Jew's Myrtle, Kneeholm, Knee Holly, Pettigree, Sweet Broom. The plant is 60 cm high, but can reach 1 m. The stems are up-straight, finely grooved. The flowers are small, located on the underside of phyllocladium. The berries on the stalk are large, fleshy, red, two-seeded. Butcher's Broom blooms in February and April. The fruits ripen in November December.
