The kangaroo is a marsupial. The baby doesn't grow inside the abdomen of the mother as with other mammals. Instead, it grows in a pouch. Kangaroo babies spend several months, up to 250 days in the pouch of the mother. Even when they can walk, they still seek protection in the pouch. Kangaroos are vegetarians. Grasses, herbs and leaves are their main food. They also nibble on tubers and plants. Kangaroos cannot walk well. Instead, they jump with their large hind legs and they can move forward quite rapidly.
