Bruckner Symphony No.7

120 years after its premiere at Leipzig (under the baton of Arthur Nikisch), conductor Philippe Herreweghe decided to take a fresh look at Bruckner's monumental seventh symphony. Originally released in 2004, this was the first recording of any Bruckner symphony on period instruments. The familiar heaviness and overpowering orchestral sound associated with Bruckner is stripped away, revealing a striking connection to the music of J.S. Bach.
