Following the arrival of Genghis Tron's celebrated Relapse Records debut, the kaleidoscopic metal feast Board Up the House, Anticon has released the fourth in a five-volume series of remix EPs on limited multi-color vinyl. Things kick off with the first official Anticon contribution from long-time label associate and Lex Records band Subtle. Known for its uniquely hands-on remixes/reinventions, the Subtle sextet here braids two Genghis Tron originals - City on a Hill and The Whip Blows Back - into the frenetic and moody City Whipped with Adam 'Doseone' Drucker's patent vocals ranging from delicate to whiplash-inducing. Recent B-Pitch Control signees Telefon Tel Aviv follow with their dub of Relief supplying an entirely new beat-seething ether for Genghis frontman Mookie Singerman's vocals to bask in. 2008 Whitney Biennial participants Lucky Dragons begin the B-side with a two-part remix of Endless Teeth here retitled with a nod to Kraftwerk as Endless Endless. They render the raucous into ambient, deliver a thunderous spurt of drums, slather Singerman's words in chromium frosting, and dissipate among synths and clacking percussion. Closing the set is Anticon's own Odd Nosdam, whose take on Colony Collapse would be right at home on his 2008 remixes/rarities compilation, Pretty Swell Explode. Epic as ever, Nosdam slows the Tron's mad pace to an easy stroll where fairytale sounds, eerie, dubbed-to-death vocals, and big, dirty drums play paramount. Packaged in a jacket featuring 'remixed' album art by Board Up the House LP cover artist Jon Beasley (OSK Design), this pressing comes exclusively in a limited edition of 1,000 on distinctly colored vinyl. Other volumes in this series are being presented by Temporary Residence, Lovepump United, Crucial Blast, and Relapse Records.
