Our Buddha hand was made in Northern Thailand by craftsmen using traditional metal casting. The thumb and index finger are touching and there is an embossed Lotus Flower in the center of the palm. Further down at the wrist, is an ornate design that makes a bracelet section. The hand sits firmly connected to a brass plate with 2 holes for easy wall or door mounting.
General meaning of the Vitarka Mudra for Thai Buddhists: This Buddha hand represents the gesture of discussion and transmission of Buddha's teachings. The Vitarka Mudra is also sometimes called The Mudra of Instruction. This hand gesture is believed to enable the energy of Buddha's knowledge to be transferred to a person without being stopped or slowed by an individual's fear.
